ஆசிரியர் என்ற வார்த்தை ஒரு அற்புதமான சொல். ஆசு என்றல் குற்றம் என்று பொருள். இரியர் என்றால் நீக்குபவர் என்று பொருள். எனவே ஆசிரியர் என்ற சொல்லுக்கு குற்றம் நீக்குபவர் என்ற ஒரு ஆழ்ந்த பொருள் உள்ளது. ஆசிரியர்கள் நமது அறிவுக் கண்ணைத் திறக்கின்றனர். இந்தக் கட்டுரையில் ஆசிரியர்களின் சிறப்பைப் பற்றி காண்போம்.

நாம் நம்மை சுற்றி பல்வேறு விதமான மனிதர்களை பார்க்கிறோம். இந்த சமுதாயத்தில் பல்வேறு விதமான தொழில்கள் உள்ளன. பல்வேறு விதமான தொழில்துறைகளும் பணிகளும் உள்ளன. இவை அனைத்திலும் இருந்து செயல்படும் அனைத்து மனிதர்களும் ஆசிரியர்களால் உருவாக்கப்பட்டோரே. எனவே சமுதாய மற்றும் தனி மனித வளர்ச்சியில் ஆசிரியர்களின் பங்கு அளவிட முடியாத ஒன்று.
ஆசிரியர்கள் பொறுமையின் சிகரங்கள். நாம் கல்வி கற்கும்போது செய்யக்கூடிய இடையூறுகளை பொறுத்துக் கொண்டு நமக்கு அவர்கள் அன்போடும் அரவணைப்போடும் கற்பிக்கின்றனர். இத்தகைய ஆசிரியர்கள் நமது வணங்குதலுக்கும் போற்றுதலுக்கும் உரியவர்கள்.
நமது பண்புகள், மற்றும் பழக்க வழக்கங்களை முறைப் படுத்தி செம்மையைப் படுத்தி நமது வளமான வாழ்க்கைக்கு வித்திடும் ஆசிரியர்கள் நமது உயர்விற்கு வழி செய்யும் ஏணிப்படிகள். தமது அயராத பணியால் ஒவ்வொரு ஆசிரியரும் பற்பல மாணவர்களின் அறிவு கண்களைத் திறக்கிறார். எனவே ஆசிரியர்களை நாம் போற்றி அவர்களிடம் நன்றி உடையவர்களாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.
எழுத்தறிவித்தவன் இறைவனாவான் என்பது தமிழில் நாம் காணும் முதுமொழி. சமஸ்கிருதத்தில் ஒரு முதுமொழி ஆச்சார்யா தேவோ பவ என்று கூறுகிறது. இதன் பொருள் ஆசிரியர் தெய்வத்திற்கு சமமானவர் என்பதேயாகும். எனவே நாம் நமது ஆசிரியர்கள் காட்டும் வழியில் சிறப்பான முறையில் பயணித்து நமது வாழ்க்கையை செம்மையாக்கி கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
