“Lohri” is a Punjabi festival, usually celebrated on January 13 every year which is a day before the festival of “Makar Sankranti” on January 14.
“Lohri” also marks the end of the month of “Poh” (पो) and the start of the month of Magha (माघ) in the Punjabi calendar.
It is also called a harvest festival as it is traditionally associated with the rabi crops. Because of this, Punjabi farmers consider the day after Lohri as the start of the new financial year.
In the Marathi language, you can wish someone “Happy Lohri” as “लोडीच्या हार्दीक शुभेच्छा”.
