‘இளமையில் கல்’ என்பது முதுமொழி.
நாம் இளமைப் பருவத்திலேயே படிக்கத் தொடங்கி கல்வியைக் கற்க வேண்டும் என்பது இதன் பொருள். மனிதர்களின் இளமைப் பருவத்தில் கல்வி கற்பதே முதற் கடமை. வறுமையைக் காரணம் காட்டியோ அல்லது செல்வாக்கினைக் காரணம் காட்டியோ இந்தக் கடமையையும் பொறுப்பினையும் நாம் தட்டிக் கழிக்க கூடாது. எக்காரணத்தாலும் நாம் கற்கும் கல்வியில் கவனம் சிதறாது இருக்க வேண்டும். இளமையில் கல் என்பது பற்றி இந்தக் கட்டுரையில் காண்போம்.
இளமையில் கல்
கல்வி என்பது நமது அறிவுக்கண்ணைத் திறக்கும் வழி. மனிதன் ஆரோக்கியத்தோடும், நலமோடும், வளமோடும் ஒரு பயனுள்ள வாழ்க்கையை வாழ வேண்டும் என்றால் கல்வி அவசியம். கல்வி என்பது பணம் சம்பாதிக்கும் வழியை தெரிந்து கொள்வது மட்டுமல்ல. பொருளீட்டுதல் என்பது கல்வியின் பல குறிக்கோள்களில் ஒன்று மட்டுமே. இதைத் தவிர வாழ்வில் கல்வியால் ஆகவேண்டிய பற்பல குறிக்கோள்கள் உள்ளன.
ஒரு மனிதன் கல்வியின் மூலம் பல செய்திகளை தெரிந்து கொள்கிறான். நாம் நமது பாடங்களின் வாயிலாக நம்மை பற்றி, இந்த உடலைப் பற்றி, உயிர்களை பற்றி, சுற்றுப்புறத்தைப் பற்றி, அறிவியலைப் பற்றி, கணிதத்தைப் பற்றி, நமது வரலாறு மற்றும் சமூகம் பற்றி, பொருளாதாரம், மனோதத்துவம், மற்றும் பலப்பல விஷயங்களை நாம் கற்கிறோம். கற்பதனால் நமது புரிதல் செம்மை அடைகிறது, நமது அறிவு விரிவடைகிறது, நமது நம்பிக்கை மற்றும் ஆற்றல்கள் மேன்மை அடைகின்றன. கற்றலினால் நாம் அடையும் பயன்கள் எண்ணிலடங்காதவையாகும்.
நாம் கல்வியை முறையாகக் கற்பதனால் எப்படி ஆரோக்கியமாக வாழவேண்டும், எவ்வாறு பொருளீட்ட வேண்டும், எப்படி நமது திறன்களை மேம்படுத்திக் கொள்ள வேண்டும், எப்படி நமது சமுதாயத்தோடு ஒட்ட ஒழுக வேண்டும், எப்படி மகிழ்ச்சியோடும் வெற்றிகரமாகவும் வாழ வேண்டும், எப்படி அறிவியல் மற்றும் தொழில் நுட்பத்தை நமது வசதியான வாழ்க்கைக்கு உபயோகிக்க வேண்டும், எப்படி சேமித்த பொருளை முறையாக செலவு செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பது மட்டுமல்லாமல், மொழிகளை நாம் தெரிந்து கொள்கிறோம். நீதி நெறிகளை தெரிந்து கொள்கிறோம். இதனால் கற்றோரது வாழ்வும் அவரை சுற்றியுள்ளோரது வாழ்வும் மேம்படுகின்றன.
