He was forced on a gun-point (almost) to sing a song while he was there to play Tabla. Yet, he went on to become one of the most recorded (in a day) and celebrated singer of Hindi films. He realized that he could sing when he was forced to do it.
He started his career in 80s but is still the favorite singer of many. He holds the record of singing maximum songs in a day owing his ability to pick up the song quickly and deliver it with optimal expression and delicacy.
He says that youngsters should not get disheartened while they pursue a career, but perfection is needed if somebody wants to succeed.
