ஜாதிகள் இல்லையடி பாப்பா, குலம் தாழ்த்தி உயர்த்தி சொல்லல் பாவம் என்றார் மஹாகவி சுப்பிரமணி பாரதியார். சாதி இரண்டொழிய வேறில்லை என்றார் அவ்வையார். இவ்வாறு நமது தமிழ் நூல்கள் அறம் வளர்க்கும்போது இந்த உலகில் பிறந்த மாந்தர் அனைவரும் சரி நிகர் சமானமானோரே என்று பறை சாற்றுகின்றன. இந்தக் கட்டுரையில் சாதிகள் இல்லை என்பது பற்றி மேலும் காண்போம்.

சாதியின் பேரால் மனிதர்கள் தீண்டாமை என்ற கொடும் குற்றத்தைப் புரிவதைக் கண்ணுற்று வேதனை அடைந்த காந்தியடிகள், “தீண்டாமை ஒரு பாவச்செயல், தீண்டாமை ஒரு பெருங்குற்றம், தீண்டாமை ஒரு மனிதத் தன்மையற்ற செயல்” என்று கூறினார். “சாதிகள் இல்லையடி பாப்பா” என்று கூறிய பாரதியார் இன்னமும் ஒரு படி மேலே சென்று “குலம் தாழ்த்தி உயர்த்தி சொல்லல் பாவம்” என்றார். இதன்பொருள் குலத்தின் பெயரால் இவர் உயர்ந்தவர், இவர் தாழ்ந்தவர் என்று கூறுவது ஒரு பாவச்செயல் என்பதுதான்.
அவ்வையார் சாதிகள் இல்லை என்பதை இன்னமும் நயமாக உரைக்கிறார்.
அவர் ஒரு பாடலில் “சாதி இரண்டொழிய வேறில்லை சாற்றுங்கால்
நீதி வழுவா நெறிமுறையின் – மேதினியில்
இட்டார் பெரியோர் இடாதோர் இழிகுலத்தோர்
பட்டாங்கில் உள்ள படி” என்கிறார்.
சாதிகள் இரண்டு மட்டும்தான் என்னும் அவ்வையார், இந்த இரண்டு சாதிகள் எவை என்பதை கூறுகையில் துன்பப்படுவோருக்கு உதவும் உயர்ந்த மனம் கொண்டோர் உயர் குலத்தோர்; துன்பப்படுவோரைக் கண்டு இரங்காமல் சுயநலம் மட்டுமே பேணுவோர் தாழ்ந்த குலத்தோர் என்பதுதான்.
சாதிக் கொடுமைகள் கடந்த பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக இந்த சமுதாயத்தை சீரழித்தன. தற்போது இவை பெரும்பாலான அளவிற்கு குறைந்து விட்டாலும் இன்னமும் சாதிக் கொடுமைகள் நமது சமுதாயத்தை விட்டு முற்றிலுமாக அகலவில்லை என்றே கூறலாம்.
சாதியின் பேரால் மனிதர்களை நாம் பிரித்து பாகுபாடு செய்யக்கூடாது. மனிதர் அனைவருக்கும் சிகப்பு நிறத்திலேயே ரத்தம் உள்ளது. மனிதர் அனைவருக்கும் சுக துக்கங்கள் உண்டு. அனைவருக்கும் பசி, துக்கம் ஆகியன பொருந்தும். எனவே மனிதர்களுக்குள் எப்படி பாகுபாடு வர இயலும்? எனவே நாம் சாதி என்னும் தீமை இந்த பூமியிலிருந்து ஒழிந்து இந்த மனித குலம் முழுதும் “ஒன்றே குலம் ஒருவனே தேவன்” என்னும் கோட்பாட்டினால் ஒன்று பட விரைந்து முயல வேண்டும்.
There are no castes – Essay
Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharati said, “There are no castes. It is a sin to discriminate people to be belonging to higher and lower castes.” Avvaiyaar said, there are only two castes and nothing more. A lot of books in Tamil literature say “All men are equal by birth.” In this essay, let us discuss the topic “There are no castes”.
Gandhiji was pained by seeing that men are discriminating between people on the basis of their birth. Attacking untouchability in its fundamental sense, Gandhi said, “Untouchability is a sin; Untouchability is a crime and untouchable is inhuman”. After singing “There are no castes on this earth”. Bharati went a step further to say, “It is indeed a sin to discriminate between people on the basis of their birth.”
Avvaiyaar says that there are no castes in an interesting way. She says, “There are only two castes on this earth. Those who are moved by pity towards the troubled and help them belong to the upper caste and those that are insensitive to the sufferings of people and do not help anyone belong to lower caste”.
Over the past few centuries, several crimes have been committed on people in the name of caste. Though this has come down significantly these days, still such atrocities are not completely wiped out from around us.
We must not discriminate between people on the basis of caste. The blood of any man is red in color. Sorrows, sufferings, pleasures and pains are equally felt by all people. Sleep and hunger are common to all. Hence how can we discriminate between people? We must eradicate the idea of caste and unite all people under one umbrella to live happily on this earth.
