இந்தியத் திருநாட்டில் நவம்பர் 14ஆம் நாளை நாமனைவரும் குழந்தைகள் தினமாகக் கொண்டாடி வருகிறோம். குழந்தைகள் தினத்தைக் கொண்டாடும் வழக்கம் எப்படி ஏற்பட்டது என்பதையும் குழந்தைகள் தினத்தின் சிறப்புகளையும் இந்தக் கட்டுரையில் நாம் காண்போம்.

வளரும் பருவம் மிகவும் இனிமையானது. குழந்தைப் பருவத்தில் நாம் ஓடி, ஆடி விளையாடி, கல்வி கற்று மகிழ்ச்சியாக வாழுகிறோம். குழந்தைகளை அனைவருக்கும் மிகவும் பிடிக்கும். பண்டித ஜவாஹர்லால் நேருவுக்கும் குழந்தைகள் என்றால் மிகவும் விருப்பம். எனவேதான் தனது பிறந்த தினத்தைக் குழந்தைகள் தினமாகக் கொண்டாடும்படி ஏற்பாடு செய்தார். இன்றும் நாம் பண்டித ஜவாஹர்லால் நேருவின் பிறந்த தினமான நவம்பர் 14 அன்றைய நாளை குழந்தைகள் தினமாகக் கொண்டாடி வருகிறோம்.
குழந்தைகள் தினத்தை அனைத்துப் பள்ளிகளிலும் மிகச் சிறப்பாகக் கொண்டாடுகிறார்கள். பள்ளிகளிலும் பொது இடங்களிலும் குழந்தைகள் தினத்தைக் கொண்டாடும் வகையில் பல நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடைபெறுகின்றன.
பள்ளிகளில் குழந்தைகள் தினத்தன்று பல போட்டிகளை நடத்துகிறார்கள். இந்தப் போட்டிகளில் மாணவ மாணவியரின் பல்வேறு திறமைகளைக் கண்டறிந்து ஊக்குவிக்கும் வகையில் நிகழ்ச்சிகள் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்படுகின்றன. பேச்சுப்போட்டி, கட்டுரைப் போட்டி, ஓவியப்போட்டி, கவிதை போட்டி என்று பற்பல போட்டிகளில் குழந்தைகள் கலந்து கொண்டு பல புதிய தகவல்களைக் கற்பது மட்டுமின்றி தமது தனித்திறன்களை வெளிப்படுத்திப் பரிசும் பாராட்டும் பெற இந்த நிகழ்ச்சிகள் வழி செய்கின்றன.
பண்டித ஜவாஹர்லால் நேரு இந்திய சுதந்திர போராட்டத்தில் பங்கேற்று அரிய பல தியாகங்களை செய்த அருந்தலைவர்களுள் ஒருவராவார். இந்தியா சுதந்திரம் அடைந்த பிறகு இந்தியக் குடியரசின் முதல் பிரதம மந்திரியாகப் பதவியேற்று இந்த நாடு பல விதங்களிலும் முன்னேற வழி செய்தார். நேருவின் திறமையான தலைமையின் கீழ் இந்த தேசம் பல நாடுகளும் போற்றி பாராட்டும் அளவிற்கு உயர்ந்தது.
குழந்தைகள் தினத்தை நாம் கொண்டாடுவது மட்டும் போதாது. இந்த அருமையான நாள் நமக்கு எடுத்து இயம்பும் பல நல்ல கருத்துக்களை நமது வாழ்வில் கடைபிடிப்பது மிகவும் அவசியம். நாம் இந்த இளமைப் பருவத்திலேயே காலத்தை வீணாக்காமல் நமது பல்வேறு திறமைகளையும் தேச பக்தியையும் வளர்த்துக் கொண்டு இந்த உலகம் பயனுறும் வகையில் பல சேவைகளை ஆற்றி மகிழ்வோமாக.

Childhood is precious and sweet. During our childhood, we play and learn and spend time happily and purposefully. Everyone likes children. Jawaharlal Nehru also liked children. Hence he arranged to celebrate his birthday as Children’s Day. Therefore we are celebrating November 14 as Children’s Day.
Children’s Day is celebrated in all schools in India. In schools and public places, a number of programs are organized commemorating Children’s Day.
Schools organize a number of competitions on Children’s Day. These competitions are meant to identify the talents in children and develop them. Some of the competitions organized on Children’s Day include elocution, essay writing, drawing and poetry writing competitions. By participating in these competitions, children are able to learn many new things as well as project their talents to be appreciated and rewarded.
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was one among those great leaders who sacrificed a great deal by participating in India’s freedom struggle. After India’s independence, Jawaharlal Nehru took charge as the first Prime Minister of the country and worked for the development and growth of this nation. Under his able leadership, India developed in an amazing way and secured the appreciation of the world countries.
It is not enough that we celebrate Children’s Day. We must reflect on the ideals that this day teaches us and follow them in our lives. We must not waste time during our precious childhood. We must cultivate our talents and patriotism during our childhood and work for the country’s welfare in the ways possible for us.
