இந்தியாவில் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் நவம்பர் 14ஆம் நாள் குழந்தைகள் தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. குழந்தைகள் தினம் எப்படி தோன்றியது என்பது ஒரு சுவையான வரலாறு. மனிதருள் மாணிக்கம் என்றழைக்கப்படும் பண்டித ஜவஹர்லால் நேரு அவர்கள் இந்தியாவின் முதல் பிரதம மந்திரியாக இருந்தார். அண்ணல் காந்தியடிகளோடு இணைந்து இந்திய சுதந்திர போராட்டத்தில் அவர் ஆற்றிய பணி மகத்தானது. ஜவஹர்லால் நேரு இந்திய வரலாற்றில் ஒரு தியாகியாகவும் சுதந்திர இந்தியாவை வடிவமைத்த ஒரு சிற்பியாகவும் பார்க்கப்படுகிறார்.

நாம் குழந்தைகள் தினத்தை கொண்டாடி மகிழ்வது மட்டுமில்லாமல் இந்த அரிய நாளை நமது தேச பக்தியை வளர்த்துக் கொள்ளும் நாளாகக் காண வேண்டும். நாம் பிறந்த இந்த தேசத்திற்கு நாம் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பதை சிந்தித்து நமது கடமைகளையும் பொறுப்புகளையும் சிறப்பான முறையில் ஆற்றிட இந்த நாள் வழி செய்ய வேண்டும்.

Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru was born on November 14, 1889. Nehru was very fond of children. Therefore, he desired that his birthday must be celebrated as Children’s Day. Therefore, every year, November 14 is observed as Children’s Day. Children used to very fondly call him as Uncle Nehru.
