One of the main objectives of making school children recite poetry in various languages including the regional, national as well in English is to make them aware of the social and environmental issues that the society is facing, and how through these poems the children could be made aware so that they could participate in their little but impactful way.
Because of this, a lot of schools and educations institutions make them recite poems on water, trees, pollution, environment, birds etc. and also on human values.
Taking a cue from such search queries on Google, I wrote this poem that encourages children to save water. I feel this poem is appropriate for the children who are studying in class 2 or 3. Feel free to let us know your feedback or suggestions.

पानी पीना है जो तुमने
दूषित ना करो जल-स्रोत हमारे
जीवन जीना है जो तुमने
दूषित ना करो जल-स्रोत हमारे
पानी से ही सब कुछ उगता
पानी ही है प्राण हमारा
पानी से ही सुन्दर लगता
ये सम्पूर्ण संसार हमारा
पानी के मूल्य को पहचानो
पानी से ही जीवन है
पानी के मूल्य को पहचानो
पानी से ही हम सब हैं
