சுற்றுச் சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு
இந்த பூமி நாம் வாழ எல்லா வளங்களையும் தந்து உதவுகிறது. ஆனால் நாமோ மனித வாழ்க்கையின் பல்வேறு செயல்பாடுகளால் நமது சுற்றுப்புறம் மாசடைந்து நிலைகுலைய வழிவகுக்கிறோம். சுற்றுசூழலைப் பாதுகாப்பது என்? எப்படி? என இந்த கட்டுரையில் காண்போம்.
சுற்றுச் சூழல் பாதுகாப்பு
இந்த பூமி இயற்கை அன்னை நமக்களித்த அரிய கொடை. நாம் வாழுவதற்கேற்ற எல்லா வளங்களையும் அள்ளித்தரும் இந்தப் புவி மனிதனின் பல்வேறு செயல்பாடுகளால் மாசடைந்தும் நிலைகுலைந்தும் போயிருக்கிறது. இயற்கையின் கொடைகளை நமது வாழ்க்கைக்கும் வளர்ச்சிக்கும் வசதிகளுக்கும் பேராசைக்கு பயன்படுத்திக் கொள்ளும் நாம் இந்த பூமி பல்லாயிரம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு நமக்குப் பின் வரும் சந்ததியினருக்கும் உபயோகப்பட வேண்டும் என்பதை மறந்துவிடக்கூடாது. நமது முன்னோர்கள் நமக்கு இந்த பூமியை விட்டுச் செல்லவில்லை எனில் நாம் இங்கு வசதியாகவும் நிம்மதியாகவும் வாழுவது எப்படி சாத்தியமாகியிருக்கும்? எனவே நமக்கு பின் வரும் சந்ததியினரின் மீது உள்ள பொறுப்புகளை நாம் தட்டிக்கழிக்க முடியாது.
பூமியில் நம்மை சுற்றி உள்ள நிலம், நீர், நெருப்பு, காற்று, ஆகாயம் ஆகிய பஞ்ச பூதங்களை நாம் நமது சுற்றுப் புறம் என்று குறிப்பிடுகிறோம். மனிதரது பல்வேறு செயல்பாடுகளால் இந்த சுற்றுப்புறம் மாசடைகிறது. இயற்கை வளங்களை நாம் அளவில்லாமல் சுரண்டுவதால் இவ்வளங்களின் ஆதாரங்கள் வேகமாக அழிந்து வருகின்றன. மரங்களை நமது தேவைகளுக்கும், கட்டைத் திருத்தி நாடாக்குவதற்கும் வெட்டியழிப்பதனால் மழை வளம் குறைந்து புவி வெப்பமடைகிறது. காடுகள் அழிவதனால் விலங்குகள் மற்றும் பறவைகள் வாழ இடம் இன்றி அவையும் வேகமாக அழிந்து வருகின்றன. இந்த நிலை நீடித்தால் சில ஆண்டுகளில் இந்த பூமி பாலைவனமாகி நாம் வாழவே வழியில்லாமல் போய்விடும்.
நமது சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாக்கப்பட வேண்டும் எனில் புவி மாசடைவதை நாம் கட்டுப்படுத்த வேண்டும். மரங்களை வளர்க்க வேண்டும். இயற்கை வளங்களுக்கு மாற்றினைக் கண்டுபிடித்தும் மரங்களை நாட்டும் காடு வளர்க்க வேண்டும். இந்த முயற்சிகளை நாம் அனைவரும் சேர்ந்து செய்தால் இந்த பூமியும் காப்பாற்றப்படும், நாமும் நமது பின்வரும் சந்ததியினரும் வாழ ஒரு அழகான மற்றும் வளமான கிரகம் பாதுகாக்கப்படும். வளரும் பருவத்திலேயே மாணவர்களாகிய நாம் நமது சுற்றுப்புறத்தைக் காக்க வேண்டும் என்பதில் நாட்டம் கொண்டு நம்மாலியன்ற வகையில் புவியைப் பாதுகாக்க முயற்சிப்போமாக. இதுவே நாம் இந்த புவியன்னைக்கு செலுத்தும் நன்றிக் கடன்.

This earth is a wonderful gift given to us by nature. This earth gives us all the resources we need for our life. We humans have been exploiting and polluting this earth in several ways forgetting that this earth should continue to support the lives of several generations in future. If our ancestors had not left this earth for us, how could it have been possible for us to live a happy and comfortable here? Hence, it is our bounden duty to save the environment due to the responsibility we owe to our future generations.
The environment surrounding us is made of five elements namely earth, water, fire, air and ether. Human activities have been polluting the environment. Limitless exploitation of natural resources have been leading to the fast depletion of these resources. As we cut down trees for our needs and to create living spaces, rains are reducing and the earth is getting hotter. As the forests are lost, birds and animals are fast disappearing. If this trend continues, the earth will become a desert very soon and we will never have a place to live.
If we seek environmental protection, we must control pollution. We must plant more trees. We must also discover alternatives for natural resources and must grow forests. If we join together and commit to such efforts, this earth will be saved and our future generations will have a beautiful and plentiful planet to live. Right from our school age, we all must act towards our environment in a responsible way and do our bit to protect the environment. This is the gratitude we can show our Mother Earth.
