இந்த பிரபஞ்சம் மற்றும் அதிலுள்ள அனைத்தின் அமைப்பு, தன்மை மற்றும் செயல்பாடுகளை அறிவு பூர்வமாகப் ஆராய்ந்து, புரிந்துகொள்ளும் துறைக்கு அறிவியல் என்று பெயர். இந்தக் கட்டுரையில் நாம் அறிவியலைப் பற்றி சில முக்கியமான தகவல்களை அறிந்து கொள்வோம்.

நமது உலகியல் அறிவைப் பெருக்கிக் கொள்ள வழி செய்யும் துறைக்கு அறிவியல் என்று பெயர். அறிவியல் இந்த பிரபஞ்சம் மற்றும் அதிலுள்ள அனைத்தையும் அறிவு பூர்வமாக ஆராய்ந்து அவற்றின் தன்மைகள், பண்புகள் மற்றும் செயல்பாடுகளை புரிந்து கொள்ள வழி செய்கிறது.
பள்ளிகளில் செயல்படும் நமது பாடத்திட்டத்தில் அறிவியல் பாடம் ஒரு முக்கியமான பகுதியாகும். ஆரம்பப் பள்ளி முதற்கொண்டே நாம் அறிவியலைப் படிக்க தொடங்குகிறோம்.
அடிப்படை அறிவியல் பிரிவுகளின்றி இருந்தாலும், அடுத்தடுத்த நிலைகளில் அறிவியலில் பல பிரிவுகள் தோன்றுகின்றன. பள்ளிக் கல்வி நிலையில் அறிவியலில் மூன்று பிரிவுகள் உள்ளன. அவை இயற்பியல், வேதியியல் மற்றும் உயிரியல் என்பனவாகும்.
பொருட்களின் அமைப்பு, தன்மை மற்றும் செயல்பாடுகளை பற்றி ஆராயும் அறிவியலை இயற்பியல் என்று கூறுகிறோம். பொருட்களின் வேதியியல் அமைப்பு, தன்மை மற்றும் செயல்பாடுகளை ஆராயும் அறிவியலின் துறைக்கு வேதியியல் என்று பெயர். உயிர்களைப் பற்றி படிக்கும் அறிவியலை உயிரியல் என்கிறோம். உயிரியலில் மேலும் இரண்டு பிரிவுகள் உள்ளன. அவை தாவரவியல் மற்றும் விலங்கியல் என்று வழங்கப்படுகின்றன. இதில் முதலாவது பிரிவு தாவரங்களை பற்றியும் இரண்டாவது பிரிவு விலங்குகளைப் பற்றியும் ஆராய்கின்றன.
அறிவியல் ஆராய்ச்சிகளை மேற்கொண்டு பல புதிய தகவல்களைக் கண்டு பிடிப்போருக்கு அறிவியல் ஆய்வாளர்கள் அல்லது விஞ்ஞானிகள் என்று பெயர். ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் விஞ்ஞானத்துறையில் பல கண்டுபிடிப்புகளை நிகழ்த்தும் விஞ்ஞானிகளுக்கு பல நிறுவனங்களின் மூலமாக பரிசுகள் வழங்கப்படுகின்றன. அறிவியலின் பல துறைகளில் கண்டுபிடிப்புகளுக்கும் நோபல் பரிசுகள் வழங்கப் படுகின்றன.
இளமைப் பருவம் மிகவும் விலை மதிக்க முடியாதது. இளமையிலேயே நாம் அறிவியல் படிப்பில் நாட்டம் கொண்டு நமக்கு விருப்பமான துறையில் பல சாதனைகளை மேற்கொள்ள வேண்டும். அறிவியலில் நாம் சாதிக்கும் எதுவும் நமக்கு மட்டுமின்றி இந்த உலகிற்கும் பெரும் பயனை வழங்கும். இதன் தொடக்கம் நாம் அறிவியலை விருப்பத்துடனும் ஆர்வத்துடனும் கற்றலே ஆகும்.

While the basic science is taught without any branches, science branches in advanced levels. In the elementary and high school education, we deal with three branches of science namely Physics, chemistry and biology.
The branch of science that deals with the physical nature and properties of things is called physics. The field of science that studies the chemical nature of things is known as chemistry. The branch of science dealing with life is called biology. Further, biology is divided into two fields namely botany that deals with plants and zoology that deals with animals.
Those who research with science and discover new things and concepts are called as scientists. Every year some organizations identify top talents in science and reward them. The greatest inventions in different branches of science are appreciated through Nobel prizes.
Young age is precious. Right from our early years we must show interest in science and try to achieve something in science in the field that interests us. Scientific inventions not only benefit us, but also benefits this world at large. The beginnings of this achievement lies in learning science with diligence and enthusiasm.
