Patiala is a historical place and holds special mention in the history of Punjab. Apart from palaces and forts, it is also famous for its cultural items like jutti (shoe), pagg (turban), etc. There are some places in Patiala where people love to stroll around and spend some time in leisure. Baradari Garden is one amongst them.
Last year, I went to visit Baradari Garden with some of my friends. Baradari Garden is situated in the north of the old Patiala city and comes just outside the Sheranwala Gate. People of Patiala, working professionals, school children, visitors spend their time in this garden.
We started from our home town Nabha and parked our car outside the garden gate. The garden has a sprawling area, fountains and one special feature–bats. After spending and strolling around for some time, we clicked multiple pictures of bats who are a treat to the eye just because you do not find such big-size bats around Punjab often.
The Baradari Palace now houses the Punjab State Archives, a repository of rare documents of historical importance. It is clear that visiting this garden could help you spend around 2-3 hours in leisure and enjoying variety of nature.
